Gary’s Car Wash

Gary has been supported by our East Coast Supported Living Service for 5 years. Like all of us, Gary is full of hopes and dreams for his future and has talked of his dream of starting his own car washing business for some years now.

Gary was keen to make his dream a reality and had drafted a short business plan looking at how he might start up his car washing business. Gary asked Kyle, a member of his support team, for help and was able to finalise his business plan, which he then presented to Julie, Deputy Service Manager of the East Coast Supported Living Service. It was all systems go once Julie approved the plan – Risk Assessments were carried out and insurance put in place. In September 2015, Gary’s car wash opened for business and he has been attending Positive Futures’ Head Office twice a week, washing staff cars.

Gary says, “It’s hard to believe that at the beginning of last year I used to dream about starting my own business and now it’s really happening. I’m so thankful to my staff team who have really helped me make this dream a reality. It’s great coming home at the end of a busy day with my hard earned money in my pocket!”

Caroline Gallagher, Head Office Receptionist, has praised Gary for his car washing skills, “Gary is doing a fantastic job as he starts out in his new business. The staff in Head Office are so pleased to be getting their cars cleaned while they work at competitive rates! We hope to see Gary’s business go from strength to strength in 2016.”
