A couple who open their home to others as part of our Families Matter Shared Lives Service have been recognised in a UK–wide awards scheme.
Stephanie and Martin Kenny, who currently offer short breaks to three adults with a learning disability, were Highly Commended as Shared Lives Carers of the Year by Shared Lives Plus UK.
Despite both working full time, Stephanie and Martin have been providing short breaks since January 2011. Before that, they were foster carers. The couple, who have two grown up children, are caring, flexible and accommodating and will always do their best to help others – precisely the qualities recognised by the award.
The support they provide means a great deal to the full–time carers of the three adults Stephanie and Martin support.
