World Autism Awareness Week 2016 – Jayden’s Story

Posted 07:00AM on Monday 04 April 2016

Jayden is 5 years old and has autism and a learning disability. Jayden is a complex young boy with behaviours that at times are challenging. Jayden has two older siblings, Jake, 10, and Jasmin, 7. No existing services were working for Jayden and the needs of his family and they were at breaking point, until a referral was made to our Lakeland Family Support Service.

“Positive Futures have made such a difference to our son Jayden’s life. Thanks to their support, he now has a very active social schedule, going out every evening to the swimming pool, sensory room or parks in the good weather. He is much more able to tolerate noisy environments.

“His siblings are also benefiting from the support Jayden is receiving from Positive Futures as they are now able to concentrate on their homework when Jayden is out in the evenings. They also get the chance to have a relaxing dinner with us or spend some quality time, just 1:1 with us. These are things which many families take for granted, but without the help of Positive Futures it would not be possible for our family.

“Positive Futures listens and meets our needs and liaises so well with us to ensure the best possible care for Jayden. Their support works so well where all other support has failed because they really do put the person they support first.”
