Hilary Allen, Support Worker with our Cookstown Supported Living Service, said the customer service offered by the Odyssey Arena at the Belfast Tattoo in September was “second to none”. Staff spotted Hilary and three of the people we support – one of whom was in a wheelchair – arriving and invited them in through the VIP entrance. After having their photograph taken with Brian Boru, the Irish wolfhound mascot of the Second Regiment, Royal Irish Rangers, they were shown to their seats to watch the show. They had a carefree and relaxed evening and were able to leave through the same VIP entrance to avoid queues.
Our Finance Director, Liam Dorrian, also nominated the Odyssey Arena after it made special arrangements for his daughter, who has difficulties managing stairs and large crowds, to see Disney on Ice.
Commenting on the award, the Odyssey’s Arena Assistant General Manager, Neil Walker, said: “We are delighted to have received the “What About Me?” Welcome Award from Positive Futures. Odyssey Arena has worked extremely hard to ensure that
all staff are aware of their responsibility towards our customers’ needs. Having recently undertaken World Host training, we pride ourselves on providing the best possible care and assistance for customers.”
