Our Families Matter Shared Lives Service has been celebrating the invaluable work of their Shared Lives carers. The Service organised a Christmas night out which was supported and attended by Shared Lives Plus, the national network for Shared Lives schemes and carers.
The event, which was held at CitiGolf, Belfast, gave carers the opportunity to network and get to know each other as well as provide much needed support. Everyone tried their hand at virtual golf and bowling and the group even enjoyed some karaoke!
Service Manager, Liz Palmer, was delighted with the turn out on the night and said: “It’s fantastic to see the carers come together to enjoy a night out like this. It’s so important that we, as a Service, facilitate these sorts of events to nurture and develop relationships amongst our carers. We’d like to say a special thank you to Lyn Griffith from Shared Lives Plus for coming along and talking to carers, providing useful advice and support. Thanks also go to Shared Lives Plus for funding the evening. Finally, we’d like to say thank you to the staff at CitiGolf who went the extra mile this evening to cater for our needs, so much so that we’ve nominated them to receive our “What About Me?” Welcome Award.”
