Positive Futures Gets Planting!

We have received further funding from the Northern Ireland Environment Agency to develop a fully accessible community garden at Willowbridge School in Enniskillen. The community garden is situated next to the sensory garden which was developed and installed in November 2013 in partnership with The Organic Centre, Rossinver.

Work is already underway and young people from our Lakeland Families Service have been helping out with all the aspects of the garden from the erection of a Polytunnel to grow fruit, vegetables and herbs to planting vegetables in raised wooden beds.

Jo Corcoran, Operations Manager, said: “This garden will be a fantastic resource for Willowbridge School as horticultural classes are becoming more and more important within the school. The garden will be a focus for education and skills development in gardening for pupils. We also hope to work alongside Willowbridge School to open this garden up to the wider community. This will provide opportunities such as enabling young adults to work in the garden.”

Positive Futures wishes to thank the Northern Ireland Environment Agency and The Organic Centre, Rossinver for their support in the development of this community garden.
