North Down MP, Lady Sylvia Hermon, and Green Party Leader and MLA, Steven Agnew, helped us launch our second round of health checks in association with Action Cancer.
This time, the focus was on the health of men – both our staff and those we support. Steven also volunteered to have his health looked at. Afterwards, he jokily tweeted, “Thanks to Action Cancer and Positive Futures for quantifying how unhealthy my lifestyle is.”
The aim of the exercise is to make people aware of how they might improve the way they live and become happier and healthier as a result. Some of the feedback we received after the session was as follows:
“It made me aware of my health. The person who did the check was very helpful, reassuring and informative.”
“The girl was nice and pleasant; she understood me and my learning disability.”
“Great! I was a bit nervous at first but was made comfortable and relaxed.”
“Very good. Made me feel at ease and explained everything as we went along.”
The health assessments and advice will continue into 2014.
