Family Support Services
Positive Futures first, groundbreaking Children's Service began in Lisburn in 2000 and we now have Services in Bangor and South East Fermanagh.
Inclusion and Person Centred Planning - with the child at the hub of a circle of support - drive the work of the Families Support Services.
The impact of the Families Support Services has been enormous.
Children with a learning disability are now connected to the wider community. They have a new sense of direction and optimism. Positive relationships have blossomed. The community has more understanding of learning disability issues.
Independent research has corroborated the benefits of Families Support Services and feedback from families and children tells of its value and positive impact.
The Lisburn Family Support Service
This Service was initially funded by the Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety. With support from Down Lisburn Health and Social Services Trust and ongoing commitment from Positive Futures, the Lisburn Families Service is building upon its established success, as a model of effective and efficient partnership.

Principles of Supported Living
'The Project's work in raising awareness of inequalities in the system, promoting social inclusion, giving support to families, enabling children with learning disabilities to avail of opportunities to become involved in their community in a supported environment is what we should be aiming for as the norm...
Patricia Lewsley, MLA
' My oldest brother...is autistic. Before Positive Futures he had no friends and no hobbies and wouldn't go anywhere without Mum and Dad. But now he has more friends and hobbies and my brother and I have time to do things we want to do.
