Positive Futures has been highly commended in 2009 University of Ulster Placement Employer of the Year Awards.
Almost 160 organisations from the private, public and voluntary sectors entered the Awards, which recognise and promote excellence in the opportunities employers provide for work placement students.
Positive Futures was highly commended in the category for Short-Term Work Experience, which covers placements of up to 6 months. The Awards were presented at a formal ceremony at the University of Ulster Jordanstown campus on 7th May 2009.
Commenting on the achievement, Agnes Lunny, Chief Executive of Positive Futures said, ‘We are delighted that the commitment of our staff to student placements has been recognised. We try to make our placements stand out, by combining professional support with the opportunity to get involved in real work, achieve academic goals and ‘buy-in’ to our ethos and values.
Positive Futures provides work placements for social work students. These provide opportunities for personal and professional development. Students are encouraged to contribute to the development of Positive Futures and given access to the latest thinking and practice around social care for people with a learning disability.
